Increase Reliability

Hydromatic grinder pumps are unique in offering two cutting blades that chew up virtually everything. With hardened stainless steel cutters, you get a system that's virtually impossible to clog. The patented Hydromatic grinder pump finely chops up waste and objects such as diapers and panty hose which catch inside piping and elbows and clog the line.

Hydromatic grinder pumps employ a primary radial cutter to reduce solid materials to a pumpable slurry. The unique second blade cuts the material again by rotating perpendicular to the radial cutter. This second axial cut further reduces solids to a finer slurry for pumping by the centrifugal impeller. Two cutters reduce solids to much smaller particles and prevent clogging, roping, or binding, which occur sometimes with other designs.

Lower Operating Costs

Because material is cut into small particles, you don’t need as large a pump as would be necessary to pass the full size solids. With the Hydromatic grinder you're using a smaller pump that uses less electricity. And you save money with lower operating costs.

Easily Maintain High Efficiency

Over time, you easily maintain the original efficiency and performance with external adjustment. Cutter adjustment bolts are conveniently located on the top of the pump. You can adjust the cutters in minutes. The table below shows some of the more common items the Hydromatic pump grinds into small particles.

Save Money With "Extra" Set of Free Cutters

With the Hydromatic grinder you get an "extra" set of hardened stainless steel blades by reversing the cutters. You simply turn over the top axial cutter and the cutter ring for your free cutters. By easily inverting these two parts you have new cutting surfaces for optimum performance. You get twice the cutting life for free. And you avoid the trouble and cost of buying replacement blades.

    Easy to Install

The small Hydromatic grinders (2 HP) are easy to handle. Their compact size and light weight means one person can easily install and service a pump. And you can get the Hydromatic grinder in a pre-packaged system with holding tank, controls, and fittings. Page 12 of this brochure provides more details on the quick and easy-to-install packaged grinder systems.

    Dependable Operation

The Hydromatic pump's oil-filled motor keeps the windings cool, eliminates moisture, and permanently lubricates the bearings to provide reliable pumping.

    First
, the oil keeps the motor and bearings cool by dissipating heat and maintaining the correct operating temperature. The oil transfers heat generated in the motor windings to the housing where it is dissipated by the surrounding wet well media.

    Second
, the oil locks out airborne moisture contamination which destroys motors and bearings. Air carries moisture that condenses with temperature changes and causes premature motor and bearing failure.

    Third
, the oil permanently lubricates the bearings which minimizes heat and flushes contaminants away from bearing races. Oil-filled motors ensure dependable, reliable service!

    Long-term Operation

The Dual Seal System gives long pump service life. The mechanical Dual Seal System protects the motor from water with one shaft seal at the top and one shaft seal below an oil chamber. The oil chamber provides lubrication for the seals and traps any moisture that may leak through the lower seal. The upper seal operates entirely in oil. The lower seal is "self-sealing" with pressure surges because it is located outside the chamber. Pressure surges from the volute push the lower seal tightly against the stationary face to prevent leakage into the oil chamber.

Longer Pump Life and Less Maintenance

You get longer pump life with Hydromatic grinder pumps because they can operate at any point on the head capacity curve. The Hydromatic grinder is designed to run at or near shut-off. Grinders in the system loop can come on and go off line without adversely affecting any one pump. Being able to operate anywhere on the curve, there is no destructive cavitation. The bearings, seals, and shaft last longer. The impeller lasts longer without pitting, cracking or breakage. You enjoy longer pump life and less maintenance, and prevent system back-ups.

    Decrease Downtime

The moisture sensor saves money and decreases downtime by allowing you to take corrective action before an expensive bearing or motor failure occurs. Hydromatic pumps incorporate an internal moisture sensor that detects the presence of moisture in the oil chamber. The sensor's signal to the control panel's warning system lets you know that the lower seal is beginning to leak. This allows you to schedule maintenance within 2 to 4 weeks while the pump continues to operate. The Hydromatic moisture sensor allows you to perform maintenance at your convenience instead of reacting to an emergency breakdown. Aurora/Hydromatic Pump offers a complete warning system with Hydromatic control panels and telemetry options.

    Reliable Operation

Three barriers provide triple protection against motor-damaging water with 3, 5 and 7 1/2 horsepower pumps. Two epoxy barriers and a compression fitting keep water out of the motor so you get longterm, reliable operation. A water-tight seal at cable entry is ensured with a single trumpet shaped elastomer grommet flanked by a washer and compression gland. The top epoxy barrier keeps water out of the connection box and the lower barrier keeps moisture out of the motor area. Leads going through both epoxy barriers are stripped down to bare Aire at staggered intervals and each lead is individually separated. This lead-encasing design prohibits any wicking or capillary water movement inside the cord. Hydromatic epoxy barriers are the most proven sealing method available.

    Low Pressure Sewage Systems

Low pressure sewage systems offer development where it was impractical or impossible before. Rocky and hilly terrain has sometimes made development prohibitively expensive. Lakeside resorts and other high water table areas have been environmentally impossible to develop. Local communities have prohibited development that harms the natural beauty of the land. With the Hydromatic grinders, a small particle slurry is pumped under pressure. This allows sewage to be pumped over rocky and hilly terrain and away from high water table areas.

    Hydromatic Grinders Increase System Reliability

Hydromatic grinders are perfect for low pressure systems because they are dependable. The unique dual-cutters produce a very fine pumpable slurry that won’t clog the I - 1/4 inch to 2 inch diameter pipe used in low pressure systems. You don’t have to worry about objects such as diapers and panty hose clogging either the pump or the system piping.
